Give Proper Offering that Pleases God
The Bible says in Malachi 3:1- 4 “I, the Lord All-Powerful, will send my messenger to prepare the way for me. Then suddenly the Lord you are looking for will appear in his temple. The messenger you desire is coming with my promise, and he is on his way. On the day the Lord comes, he will be like a furnace that purifies silver or like strong soap in a washbasin. No one will be able to stand up to him. The Lord will purify the descendants of Levi, as though they were gold or silver. Then they will bring the proper offerings to the Lord, and the offerings of the people of Judah and Jerusalem will please him, just as they did in the past.”
This passage of a Scripture teaches us that we should bring proper offerings to the Lord. God is pleased with us when we bring proper offerings to Him, and He will stay in your life as a result of your proper offering. We have seen it happening in the life of Gideon. He gave a proper offering unto God, and God stayed with him. Because of God’s presence to Gideon, he defeated the troops of the Mediante’s. Gideon was not a trained soldier but he managed to defeat the Mediante’s, and that was because of the pleasant and proper offering he made unto God.
God is also assuring us that the promises that He has made to us, are guaranteed to come to pass when we give proper offerings. We, Christians, need to give proper offerings to God. But people today are no longer following this principle of God.They are no longer offering what is proper to God. People give less of what is expected of them, but I am telling you that when you give what your life depend on – your life will change. Therefore, if you want God to bless you, Give Him a proper offering.
In Malachi 3: 8 God rebukes the descendants of Jacob for robbing Him, by not giving proper offerings. God is also revealing to them that they are experiencing the curse because they do not give what is pleasing and proper to Him. We are also the descendants Jacob and should not rob God. We should repent from robbing God of His proper offerings and the ten per cent that is due to Him. God is addressing us today as the descendants of Jacob. Why?
Let us find the reason in Genesis 28:10-15. In this passage God reveals Himself to Jacob in the dream. In a dream Jacob saw a ladder that reached from earth to heaven, and God’s angels were going up and down on it.
The Bible says the Lord was standing beside the ladder and said: “I am the Lord God who was worshiped by Abraham and Isaac. I will give to you and your family the land on which you are now sleeping.
Your descendants will spread over the earth in all directions and will become as numerous as the specks of dust. Your family will be a blessing to all people. Wherever you go, I will watch over you, and then later I will bring you back to this land. I won’t leave you—I will do all I have promised”
We are the descendants of Jacob, and we should continue to give our proper offerings to God just as our forefather did. Giving proper offering is a covenant which was made by our forefather and God, and therefore we should continue with it.
Our God is a God of a covenant. He honors a covenant and does not want it to be broken. When a covenant with God is broken, it will result in curses. Therefore to avoid curses in our lives and even our generations to come, let us continue to honor our Godly covenant of giving proper offerings.
Let us continue to give unto God. Our God is a God of giving. Most people are suffering today because they don’t want to give. If you give unto God, you will receive. The Bible in Luke 6:38 says: “Give and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
Giving releases the blessing of God unto you. Giving can also close doors in your life. That is if you don’t give, doors of blessing will be closed on you. Therefore continue to give proper offerings unto God.
May God bless His Word.
