Jesus Christ is available and reliable

Many of us used to worship ancestors before we were born again. Our grandparents used to appease ancestors every time that we needed to buy a car, or we needed a job or we needed our ways to be opened. The very same people who would stand in the gap for us to the ancestors, they died poor.

Even after they died, they know what we wanted or what our needs are, why is it that after they die and also become ancestors, why do they not make a way for us to have what we want or what we need? I will tell you why, it’s because they do not have the power, and it shows that we cannot rely on our ancestors who have passed away.

I don’t want to criticize or offend anyone, I just want to speak the reality of things. Jesus Christ is the only one who is reliable. He is the only one who fulfilled His promise even after He died. He promised that He will die and rise in 3 days, and truly He died and rose in 3 days. Today we are commemorating His dying and His resurrection.

In Luke 24: 1 to 6, the Bible reads “Very early on Sunday morning the women went to the tomb, carrying the spices that they had prepared. When they found the stone rolled away from the entrance, they went in. But they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus, and they did not know what to think.

Suddenly two men in shining white clothes stood beside them. The women were afraid and bowed to the ground. But the men said, “Why are you looking in the place of the dead for someone who is alive? Jesus isn’t here! He has been raised from death. Remember that while he was still in Galilee, he told you, ’The Son of Man will be handed over to sinners who will nail him to a cross. But three days later he will rise to life.’ Then they remembered what Jesus had said.”

Jesus is the only Savior that can be trusted and relied upon. All our ancestors if they had power, they would have risen from the dead. We all know them, some died 10 years ago, some 15 years ago and to date, they have not risen, because they are not the savior, but Jesus Christ the Savior has risen, and is still alive even today.

Because of His life, we also have hope that we will also live, because in Romans 8:11, the Bible says “Yet God raised Jesus to life! God’s Spirit now lives in you, and he will raise you to life by his Spirit.” I don’t know what is it that is dead in your life, but I know that the same God who raised Jesus Christ from the dead, is here to raise you also to life. Is it your career? Is it your finances? Is it your marriage? The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is here to bring life into that situation.

In John 11:25 & 26, Jesus says “I am the one who raises the dead to life! Everyone who has faith in me will live, even if they die. And everyone who lives because of faith in me will never really die. Do you believe this?” if you believe in Jesus and if you live by faith in Him, you will never really die.

I want you to know and understand that all that Jesus ever did, was out of love for you and me. God wanted to show us how much He loved us, and for Him to do that , He gave His only son Jesus Christ. In Romans 5:8, the Bible says “ But God showed how much he loved us by having Christ die for us, even though we were sinful”.

When we start to understand what Jesus really did for us at the cross, we will no longer live for ourselves but we will live for Him. Isaiah the Prophet says “He suffered and endured great pain for us. He was wounded and crushed because of our sins, by taking our punishment, he made us completely well”(Isaiah 53:4&5).

What more do you want in order to believe that Jesus is reliable and available? Today, I want us to partake in the Holy Communion. Because Jesus says when you eat the bread, you remember Him, when you drink the blood, you remember Him. I want us to remember our Lord, and to honor Him and to appreciate what He has done for us.

In 1 Corinthians 11: 23 to 26, the Bible says “He took some bread in his hands. Then after he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is given for you. Eat this and remember me.” After the meal, Jesus took a cup of wine in his hands and said, “This is my blood, and with it God makes his new agreement with you. Drink this and remember me”. The Lord meant that when you eat this bread and drink from this cup, you tell about his death until he comes.”

As you partake in the Holy Communion today, you are partaking in a new covenant, a covenant of love and peace. In the past, in order for a covenant to be established, there had to be the pouring out of blood, but today, we are in a covenant of the Blood of Jesus, not the covenant made by blood of animals. And I want to assure you that this covenant shall not disappoint or fail you.

This covenant shall wash you of all your sins, it will bring you knew life and fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit. But remember that you must examine yourself before partaking in the Holy Communion, because the Bible says if you drink in an unworthy manner, you commit sin against the body of Jesus.

This means that before you partake, you must repent of all your sins and ask God to forgive you. Commit yourself to living a Holy and Righteous life. Because if you continue to live in sin after partaking, you will be exposed. As you partake today, ask God to give you a pure heart, a heart that will obey Him and trust Him.

Because He is available and reliable, He will renew you and He will give you ever lasting life.

To God be the Glory
