Love and you will be loved
In today’s life, people want to be loved by others but they do not love others. We even find that Christians want God to love them, whereas they don’t love Him. I have often come across people complaining that they are not loved, only to find that they also do not love other people. Some people will love others with ulterior motives. That means they pretend to love the other person whereas they know deep within them that they do not actually love the person, but they only want to benefit from the person in one way or another.
It is the same as some people who call themselves Christians. They are here in church today, praying and asking God to bless them, and God in His faithfulness will answer their prayers, and after He blesses them they go back their previous life which does not involve church or God. But I’m here today with a special message for you, if you want to be loved, you must first love.
The Word of God says that “God loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son, so that whoever who believes in Him shall never perish but shall have an everlasting life” (John 3:16).This shows that before God expected us to love Him, He loved us first, He even gave His only Son as an expression of His love for us. So when God expects us to love Him, back, He expects us to do what He has already done for us.
Today, we find people expecting love, and when they don’t get it, instead of continuing to love, until they are loved back, they stop loving and start acting in the very same way that their enemies act. Even married couples, when they show love and commitment and discover that their spouse has been unfaithful, instead of continuing to love they also become unfaithful. They forget that the bible says we must not grow weary of doing good.
Imagine how life would be if we do the same thing to those who hurt us? Imagine what would have happened if God had stopped loving us, because even when we did not know Him, He loved us and gave us His Son, until we got to know Him and started loving Him back. I want to encourage you child of God, to love and continue to love even those who hurt you, even though they do terrible things against you.
When I hear people complain that they are not loved and are being abused in their marriages, I always ask, “what are you doing?”. I want to know if they are showing continuous and persistent love in that marriage. I also hear some complaining that they are rejected and not loved by their own family members and relatives, and my response remains that “you must continue to love them and speak a blessings upon their lives, even if they hate you”.
Don’t pray against those who do not love you, don’t pray against your enemies, but rather continue to show them love. Yes you show them love even when they do bad things to you, because the Word of God says “we must not repay evil with evil, we must overcome evil by doing good (Romans 12: 21). As Christians, we must be known for our love, even when people persecute us.
When you are married to an unbeliever and they cheat and are unfaithful to you, you must continue to love them until they start to realise the love that you have within you. Until they realise that you serve a loving God. When you do this God will not question you when you when you start praying about your marital problem.
Today you find that both husband and wife do not walk in love for each other, when the other one does wrong the other one will repeat the same thing in order to hurt them back, but I tell you, if you live like that in your marriage, your marriage is going nowhere. Because without love, we are not walking in the likeness of Jesus Christ. For Christ to be seen in us, we must walk in love.
The bible also continues to say “we should do unto others as you would have them do to you”. You cannot expect God to love and appreciate you whereas you do not do the same unto others. God says that if you want to be treated good, first start treating others good. When you treat people bad, you will also receive back the same treatment. What you do unto others shall also be done unto you, and you are the one who will feel the pain most. Give love first, and it shall be given back to you in an abundant way.
In Matthew 7: 12, the Bible says “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets”. This is the greatest commandment from God which encourages us to give unto others the same treatment that you would want to receive. We are failing today because we want to be loved but we do not love others, but if you want to be treated good, begin to treat others good.
Jesus says to His disciples, “A new command I give you. Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another” (John 13:34). Jesus did not expect His disciples to do what He Himself could not do, rather, He commanded them to do what He had already done for them. He knew that in order for them to be accepted and welcomed in their preaching, they needed to love one another.
In Luke 6: 27 the Bible instructs us to even love our enemies, it says “But to you who are listening I say; Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you”. This teaches us that when someone hates you, you need to treat him/her with love. If you repay hatred with hatred, you delay your miracle. You must be able to ask God to bless your enemy.
Let me tell you, rather pray to God to bless those witches and wizards who are cursing you day and night, because once they are blessed they won’t have time to bewitch you or curse you. They are after you now because they see that you are blessed and they are not blessed. Love my children, covers a multitude of sins, Love and don’t get tired of walking in love because in due time you will get your reward. Love and you will be loved in return.
God bless you as you start walking in love.
