Hold your Pillars
In Judges 16: 15 to 21 we read about how Delilah manipulated Samson in to revealing to her the secret of his strength. Samson although he was one of the strongest men that had ever lived, had one weakness, and that was his love for women. Now because the Philistines wanted to destroy him, they sent Delilah to find out where his strength comes from.
The devil uses the same strategy to manipulate us, he looks for our weakness and uses that weakness to destroy us. When the devil searches for your weakness, he is like Delilah, he doesn’t get tired or give up on finding your weakest point. Delilah never gave up even when Samson had lied to her 3 times. But eventually he trusted her and revealed his secret to her. When the devil is looking for our weakness, he uses people we know and trust. That is why we should love all people, but trust only God.
When Samson’s hair was shaved, his strength left him, some versions say “the presence of the Lord left him”. All because he revealed his secret. Many of us also fail in many attempts and we cause the presence of the Lord to leave us. We promise God that we will fast and pray, but in a moment of weakness, we break the fast before time. Many of us are sitting here because the devil has used our weaknesses to cause the presence of God to leave us, and we do no longer have strength.
But in verse 28 & 29 of the same Judges 16, we read about how Samson prayed to God after the Philistines had humiliated and ridiculed him. The Bible says “Then Samson prayed to the Lord, “Sovereign Lord, remember me. Please, God, strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes.” Are you here and have been ridiculed by the devil? Even if it was your own fault that the devil captured you, you can still pray to God, you can still open your mouth and say “Lord remember me, Lord remember my marriage, Lord remember my career”. Samson was blind and could not see a thing, but he prayed to the Lord.
The Bible tells us that after praying, Samson reached out for the 2 central pillars of the temple and brought it down, destroying everything in the temple and on that day, he killed more people than he had ever killed in his life. I’m here to tell you that you might be down and out, you might be caged by the enemy, but you can reach for the pillars of the enemy’s stronghold, you can bring down the enemy by just reaching out to the pillars and say Lord, remember me in this situation.
The Bible tells us that when Samson destroyed that temple, he also died with the Philistines, but you oh Child of the Most High God, you will not die with the demons that caged you, but your flesh will die, as you hold on to the pillars, not only your situation will be destroyed but also your flesh will die and make way for your freedom.
Today as you reach out for the pillars of the devil, God will avenge you, God will avenge you for all that you have suffered, you don’t have to avenge yourself, the Philistines thought that they were done with Samson, but he reached for the pillars of their temple. Today the devil might think that he is done with you, but you still have pillars that you can reach out to, your pillars today are the Word of God, your pillars are your prayers. Reach out and take hold of those pillars, see what the Lord will do to your enemy.
To Him be all the Honor and Glory.
