Words of encouragement

Today I want to tell you about a woman called Rahab, a woman who was regarded as nothing by the people of Jericho, but by her act of faith, she saved her entire family.

In Joshua 2: 9 to 14 we read about how Rahab hid the Israelite spies because she knew that God is with them and has given the land of Jericho to Israel, so she gave the spies safety so that they can also spare her life and that of her family. The act of faith that Rahab took caused her to become a vessel of honor.

Rahab knew nothing about God, but she heard that the Israelites have a very big God who will cause them to take over the city of Jericho.

Someone could say, there were so many educated people in Rahabs family that could have saved the family, or that there were better people that God could have used to save Rahab's family, but God used a prostitute, a nobody, an old crock.

Its like some of you here who look down on yourselves because of your past. You regard yourself as nothing, your community and people around you see you as useless and worthless, but God sees a candidate of miracles in you, God sees a vessel of honor in you.

God wants to bless someone here tonight and He says He doesn't look at your past in order to bless you. God wants to change someone from Rahab to light of their family. God wants to change a hooker into a legend tonight.

If you read the Bible carefully you will understand that the whole of Jericho fell down except the house of Rahab, everything was completely destroyed except the house of the prostitute, all because she realised the Greatness of the God of Israel.

Your being here tonight, is an act of faith like Rahab, as you pray to God, your entire family will be saved, your situation will collapse like the walls of Jericho, your troubles will be completely destroyed, because of the Great God of Israel. As we are going to pray, we are going to take our blessings, we are going to possess our Jericho, God has already given us our blessings. We just need to rise and receive them in prayer.

I want to tell everyone here that you are not here for nothing, the Lord will surely bless you tonight. The Lord will meet you at the point of your need.
